This is what we wore to church.
In case you didn’t know, our church has moved to Chinatown at the East Broadway stop (address below). These are a few quick pictures after church this Sunday. We couldn’t resist shooting. The lanterns were hung and the market back alleys were bustling with the activity merchants and shoppers alike. Purcell Nurse (@nurse2life), the photographer, found our impromptu shooting location hugely inspiring. After the shoot, we had tea and sponge cake at The Swan Bakery before heading to our Queens location for evening service!

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW…A LOVELY BUT SAD SONG. IT IMPLIES AN UNREACHABLE SATISFACTION. RAINBOWS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A SOURCE OF JOY PROVIDING A SPARK OF OPTIMISM AND HOPE. THEY ARE PRETTY TO LOOK AT, GENERATE WONDER AND WE’VE MADE UP SO MANY STORIES ABOUT HOW THEY’VE COME TO BE OR ABOUT POTS OF GOLD AT THE RAINBOW’S END. SADYLY THEY ARE FAR ABOVE IN THE SKY AND WE CAN’T APPREHEND “THE MAGIC” OF THE RAIBOW, OR CAN WE?
ONE MAN’S OBEDIENCE MOVED GOD SO MIGHTILY THAT IT GARNERED THE PHENOMENON OF THIS TECHNICOLOR BAND IN THE SKY. IT BECAME A “RIBBON IN THE SKY FOR OUR LOVE”…THE LOVE OF GOD FOR US, HIS PEOPLE. THAT MAN WAS NOAH…AFTER THE FLOOD WATERS OF NOAH SUBSIDED AND THE ARK RESTED ON THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN, NOAH AND HIS FAMILY EXITED THE BOAT TO START ANEW! THE RAINBOW WAS GOD’S ASSURANCE TO NOAH THAT THEIR NEW BEGINNING WOULD BE FULL OF “RAINBOW MAGIC”. IT WAS A PROMISE OF SUCCESS AND JOY! IMAGINE SEEING A RAINBOW FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHAT WAS THAT LIKE? YOU’D THINK TO YOURSELF…WOW, THIS MUST REALLY BE A SPECIAL MOMENT FOR GOD TO COMMEMORATE IT SO EXTRAVAGANTLY.
SOOOOO, THIS YEAR, WE ARE NOT STANDING BY WHILE THE SKY WEARS THE MOST DECADENT GARMENT IN ALL OF CREATION…THIS YEAR, WE BECOME THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW. WE WILL APPREHEND ITS “MAGIC”AND BELIEVE GOD FOR WHAT HE SAYS IT MEANS FOR OUR LIVES. WE ARE THE RAINBOW, WE WEAR THE RAIBOW…WE ARE GOD’S MANIFESTED PROMISE HERE ON THIS EARTH!
WHAT DREAM HAS BEEN DISTANT…YOU CAN SEE IT BUT NEVER TOUCH IT. WHAT HAS ELUDED YOU? THIS YEAR, IN 2017, WE BELIEVE THAT GOD IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT HE’S ALWAYS SAID. HE IS A GOD OF PROMISE AND IF YOU BELIEVE, THIS IS THE YEAR OF YOUR DREAMS COMING TRUE! IT’S NO LONGER OFF IN THE SKY, WE NOW WEAR IT!

CREATE YOUR OWN RAINBOW!
What you’ll need:
- A glass of water (about three quarters full)
- White paper
- A sunny day
- Take the glass of water and paper to a part of the room with sunlight (near a window is good).
- Hold the glass of water (being careful not to spill it) above the paper and watch as sunlight passes through the glass of water, refracts (bends) and forms a rainbow of colors on your sheet of paper.
- Try holding the glass of water at different heights and angles to see if it has a different effect.
While you normally see a rainbow as an arc of color in the sky, they can also form in other situations. You may have seen a rainbow in a water fountain or in the mist of a waterfall and you can even make your own such as you did in this experiment.
Rainbows form in the sky when sunlight refracts (bends) as it passes through raindrops, it acts in the same way when it passes through your glass of water. The sunlight refracts, separating it into the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
